Kim Tkatch

(b. 1963, Ukraine)

About the artist

Kim Tkatch studied Fine Arts at the Kiev Art Institute in 1988 and immigrated to Israel in the early 1990s. His earlier paintings expressed "mystical" feelings through cryptic patterns and mythical figures, but in Israel his style began to change.

Today Tkatch’s paintings have a more realistic perspective, yet maintain their “magical” flair. His still-life paintings of daily objects – motorcycles and motorbikes, old cars, faucets, laundry in the wind - come alive with juxtapositions of architecture, sculpture or Mediterranean vistas. His interiors contain a cheeriness and warmth, while his exterior scenes are filled with sun and rich saturated colors, romantic and intimate scenes.

Tkatch understands the exuberant potential of his subjects, and skillfully presents the beauty of a bouquet of flowers, the Grand Canal in Venice, or female figures lounging on a Mediterranean terrace. The artist has the extraordinary ability of the artist to observe the simplest things, find their essence, and bring it to a climax.

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eyes" - said Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and apparently this is the way that leads Kim Tkatch's brush.

Tkatch has exhibited in Israel, the United States, Russia, England, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, Austria, and Australia, and his works are in many private collections.
